Doors in Dubai face conditions that punish poorly done finishes quickly. Main entrance doors are exposed to direct sunlight that can reach extreme temperatures, warping and bleaching wood. Interior doors suffer from the constant cycle of air conditioning cooling and ambient warming that causes timber to expand and contract, cracking any finish that isn't flexible enough.
A properly finished door requires: full preparation including sanding, grain filling on wood and any rust treatment on metal; the correct primer for the substrate; and a topcoat or lacquer that offers the right balance of hardness and flexibility for the material and exposure level.
